Loving Your Work Help You Succeed!

Who hasn’t been told that the only way to do great work is by loving the work you do. While the reason behind this notion is the inexhaustible passion and motivation one has towards the things they love which makes it slightly capitalistic because of the condition that you need to love your work to do it efficiently. Even though it’s set in capitalistic foundations we can always change the narrative.

Instead of loving the work you do why not do the work you love? It might sound too utopian to exist however it is not beyond the realm of possibilities. Doing something you don't love will be a road full of obstacles that can't be easily avoided. Lack of creativity, motivation, ideas and so much more is bound to occur if you enroll yourself for a job your interest doesn’t lie in., The only way to do great work is to love what you do

How to spot a lack of interest?

Aman whose interest lies in music wants to become a columnist because it is a job that ensures financial stability. Because he has remarkable writing skill and experience for the job he gets selected. A few months into the job and starts losing all his motivation as if he is under a creativity dry spell. Writing daily columns on topics that he either isn't aware of or isn't interested in can get quite hectic too. Aman now realizes that in his attempt to make a living he might have ended up doing something he shouldn't have. There are so many Amans like this, could be you or someone you might know.

So what lured Aman into doing something he was aware that he is not interested in? He firmly believed that the music industry might not be able to guarantee him financial stability or success despite his passion for the same, because of which he was under the impression that he will eventually fall in love with the work he does. Which seemed like a good plan to him isn't really how the situation turned out to be.

What can you do?

It is okay to have goals that may seem too good to be true or that may not guarantee you stability. As long as you are doing something you are in love with, your work is bound to be efficient. In the long run, someone will notice your productivity and the asset you are to the industry. Having big dreams doesn't make them unrealistic if you keep working towards making them true. If Aman would have been doing his dream job he wouldn't have run out of the energy to pressure his thinking and come up with new ideas. Even if there would have been a circumstance where he lacks motivation he could have balanced it with his knowledge and passion after all that is the significance of doing something you love.

Working only to earn without any satisfaction or interest is as much of a capitalistic notion as falling in love with the work you do. While the above-mentioned is useful for the ones who haven't put themselves into a situation like Aman yet, what about the ones who have? If you are as deep in the sea as Aman is, the only way to get yourself out of it is to research and make adjustments to your goals and work. Aman is good at writing and knows music instead of writing about lifestyle topics he can approach his employer with his writing samples on music and ask for an opportunity where he can write columns on the subject that interests him.

Researching and making adjustments is a part of life. If you are in a situation like Aman where you seek financial stability however are unable to do something that you work then discover ways of twisting things around for your benefit. Look for ways to make your environment much more interesting and productive, adjust yourself according to your environment, and focus on the bright spots to make sure you never run out of your creative juices and the flame of passion keeps burning within you.

Being happy at work and enjoying what you do boosts overall productivity and performance. People who enjoy their jobs are more likely to be optimistic, motivated, to learn more quickly, to make fewer mistakes, and to make better business decisions.

“There comes a time when you ought to start doing what you want. Take a job that you love. You will jump out of bed in the morning. I think you are out of your mind if you keep taking jobs that you don't like because you think it will look good on your resume.” - Warren Buffet
