Position: Assistant Manager-Process Engineering-AOI 

Location: Chennai (for first 6 months) then Kurkumbh

Reporting To: Head of Operations 3PM IMEA

Criteria: BE with  5+ years of experience in Process Engineering.

Job purpose:

Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) process for extrusion 2D parts for India. The incumbent will drive production feasibility, cost estimation, documentation, packaging finalization and system readiness to ensure smooth product scale-up and operational success. To achieve time bound introduction of new products in customer focused, agile, safe & quality compliant ways.

Main Tasks:

  • Production feasibility for new product proposals

  • Bill of Materials (BOM) Preparation for Costing

  • PSFG - Semi-Finished (SF) IDH Creation

  • Define the best possible process parameters for extrusion, blanking / cutting

  • NPI Documentation – process / dies design and drawing preparation, development with suppliers, preparation of work instructions

  • Packaging finalization, coordinate with packaging engineering for new developments

  • Production scale-up - Coordinate and lead product scale-up trials

  • Handle system readiness – PIA steps, SAP

  • Hand-over to operations and/or 3PM supplier

  • Lead implementation of ECN / MOC for 2D parts

  • Drive improvement initiatives for process to achieve efficiency, quality improvements

Individually tasks:

Production Feasibility Review:

  • Analyze part drawings to confirm production feasibility.

  • Confirm appropriate extruder selection based on product requirements.

  • Define process requirements e.g., online cutting or blanking.

  • Validate Semi-Finished (SF) product availability and dimensions.

  • Provide required inputs and confirmations using the AMO NPI tool.

Bill of Materials (BOM) Preparation for Costing:

  • Define conversion parameters from SF to Finished Goods (FG).

  • Establish packaging configurations e.g., Parts per sheet, Sheets per poly cover, Poly covers per unit etc.

Semi-Finished (SF) IDH Creation:

  • Initiate and manage SF IDH code creation processes in the SAP and PIA software tools

Process parameter design

  • Define extrusion process parameters best suited for the product

  • Define blanking / cutting and packing process parameters

NPI Documentation:

  • Prepare blanking die layouts and drawings.

  • Develop comprehensive work instructions and visual standards for production teams.

  • Prepare & record APQP documentation as per IATF 16949 guidelines

  • Support PPAP document preparation from operations perspective

  • Ensure NPI documentation as per customer specific requirements/ IATF 16949 during trial till production handover , which will further be used for review during customer audits

  • Prepare , Review & Change of PFD,FMEA,CP as & when needed as per the nature of change & New Product/Part introduction

Packaging definition

  • Define packaging for new products from existing available options

  • Coordinate with packaging engineering for new development

Product Scale-Up & Trials:

  • Coordinate and lead product scale-up & trials, including:

  • Tool Trial (Extrusion die + Blanking die) : Tool trial & modification (if needed) before PPAP run

  • PTR Trials: Process Trial Runs.

  • PPAP Trials: Production Part Approval Process.

System Readiness:

  • Execute PIA (Product Introduction Activity) steps required for ProductIDH creation.

  • Update and maintain the BOM in SAP post-Product IDH creation.

Lead implementation of ECN / MOC for 2D parts:

  • Review the process change requests received through ECN / MOC

  • Prepare implementation plan

  • Lead implementation

  • Conclude MOC

Hand-over to operations and/or 3PM supplier:

  • Post completion of development complete handover documentation and transfer project to operations and/or 3PM supplier

Process improvement:

  • Drive process improvements for efficiency and quality in 2D process area

  • Conduct cycle time studies

  • Driving 3-5% cost saving per year through process improvement
