Recruitment Darwinism: An Evolution

With the COVID-19 outbreak now fading, it's becoming evident what the "natural order of things" will look like. The pandemic's impact on HR has been broad. Recruitment, in particular, has encountered several hurdles as a result of the huge number of resignations dropping in the covid 19 outbreak.

The progression of the recruitment model:

Work-from-Home Model

The covid 19 entrance had given a gateway to the global workforce transforming into a Digital ecosystem. With smaller workspaces in offices, many IT companies especially in India have decided to implement a Hybrid or a work-from-home model. Several employees across the country and the globe are becoming at ease with the work-from-home model. Furthermore, more ventures involving the working from the home model are anticipated to create a presence in India, as remote working has shown to increase productivity in the Indian setting, a Stanford study showed that 16,000 workers in 9 months have shown 13% hike in productivity.

A major shift to Contract staffing

Any macroeconomic downturn, such as COVID-19, inevitably prompts businesses to turn to Contracting Business or Staff Augmentation, including outsourcing. Hr personnel is seeing the benefits of employing a contract workforce because it allows them to grow their staff based on project needs without the expense concerns associated with recruiting a permanent workforce. This is a highly economical and efficient approach to recruiting that not only saves a lot of money for the organization but also uses time in extremely beneficial ways.

Freelancing is on the rise

We are seeing an increase in freelance platforms with the emergence of a start-up culture and the increased need for employees working on short-term contracts. The HR department has realized the need to attract gig workers to fish out the finest talent available. Firms are providing their employees with an enhanced experience and a growth possibility by investing in their training. With the young generation rising through the ranks and them encompassing the larger share of the industry, every industry leader has directed their main focus on employee experience, the market now looks forward to gaining experience more than focusing on its other merits. There is a major transition in the recruitment sector, instead of hiring a full-time employee with a larger designation and set of functions, organizations are instead looking for contractors with specialized skills. Also, instead of the skilled management jobs with higher expertise and salary bands, there will be an increase in demand for daily operations in project roles that can be attained by self-management and comprehension.

The evolution in the recruitment process has brought in a lot of changes and they can be seen in the forms of increased productivity and efficient time consumption amongst the employees. With the advancement in telecommunication and technology, recruitment has become widespread without being constrained to a specific geographical area with further shifts in the recruitment approaches.
