Contract Staffing is not Fad, Its Fact

WHEN it comes to seeking out a job, many have a tendency to favour permanent positions and avoid even looking at contract roles.

Considering many companies, in all sectors, are turning toward the practice of offering delimited contract periods rather than bringing on new employees in a permanent capacity, this might be a career misstep

The world is rapidly going through metamorphosis and the nature of workforce is  getting inclusive of all types of contract workers , freelancers , and consultants . The companies are coming up with strategic acquisition of multifarious type of technologies which are being designed to suit the job craft of the workforce. The job market is volatile and according to the latest report by ILO (International Labor Organisation) 18.6 million will be jobless in India i.e. unemployment rate will stand at 3.5% this year.

With 41% freelancers witnessing growth in 2017 India is now the largest freelancers market according to Paypal report

Contingent workers can take on several forms, which can include but is not limited to freelancing, part-time work, and independent contractors.

Many of the Organisation are switching to hire contract employees through third party rolls which brings down fixed cost and control variable cost reduction. The contract staffing hiring is also reaping the benefits of strategic outsourcing such as accessing skilled expertise, reducing overhead, flexible staffing, and increasing efficiency, reducing turnaround time and eventually generating more profit.

There were times when contract jobs were looked down upon but the trend is now gradually changing. The churning of global market, closures, mergers and acquisitions of companies have paved way to contract staffing. During such upheavals there have been termination and retrenchment cases of permanent employees moving out and continuity of contractual staff. Permanent jobs are no longer secure today. The inclination toward contract hiring is getting steeper and is here to stay in the near future.  The numbers are on the rise and are here to stay.

‘Contract Staffing is not Fad, Its Fact’

Many times candidates look down upon contract job inspite of not having a job in hand . Today even a permanent job does not has any guarantee for continuity or stability. In this scenarious accepting the contract job should not be of delima or turndown.

Let's accept the fact  that the job market is volatile and there is no lifelong job commitment. It is also seen that candidates make a career move decision  at an interval  which may be reasonal/unreasonal periodic tenure. Even they do not give a lifetime job continuity with the same organisation . In such scenario if there is great opportunity to learn, grow and advance with great work culture environment - certainly a good pay package is a motivating - rewarding factor then should it be a win-win for both parties.
